Amidst cheeky lyrics and remix songs, MTV Unplugged is one cool initiative trying to maintain the sanctity of music and with each season it sets a higher bar for musicians and music connoisseurs!
This time around, it is Jubin Nautiyal's rendering of a folk pahadi song from the hills of Uttarakhand that has made waves on the Internet. The song 'oo saathi oo saathi' is a love song where the lover is waiting for his partner's billet-doux!
The video posted on Youtube has crossed 38,000 likes and over 11,000 shares already after MTV India channel posted the song for the people.
The song is sung in Jaunsari language, a native language of Jaunsar (Uttarakhand) which has been said to exist from the time the Pandavas from Mahabharata lived.
When asked about his inspiration to go back to his roots Jubin told Hindustan Times, “I’d been looking for an opportunity to take the songs from our mountains to the national platform. So, when I got this chance (to collaborate with Badshah), I immediately told the team that this (pahadi song) is what I want to do.”
It was an unlikely collaboration between Badshah and Jubin as the genres differ a lot. However, the rapper said he likes to experiment and told the deccan Chronicle, "Jubin came up to me and asked me to collaborate with him on the song. He will be singing while I focus on the rap. Indians have a huge misconception when it comes to rap. It isn’t just about heavy beats; it is about poetry. And my collaboration with Jubin will be exactly that.”
Both the artists had earlier come together for the remix of the Humma humma song and have recreated soulful musical magic with this one too!
So the moral of the story here is that all you music lovers need to check out this song ASAP and we sure know the masterpiece will linger on your lips for a while!
