The next season of Game of Thrones seems centuries away and the fan theories will soon start boiling now that the world is done with the Olympics fever. Season six held a lot of expectations and things panned out just the way fans wanted with Jon Snow rising from the dead! But it is known that during the scripting and even the shooting the actors too are kept in dark about the ensuing plot. That is why we had Kit Harington misleading us by saying that he might not be on the show then.
We came to know that the writers have quite a lot of fun due to this and are cruel pranksters trolling the actors every now and then.
Sophie Turner, who plays the damsel-turned-distress Sansa Stark once told The Telegraph that the show's writers like to have fun with the cast each season. "They present scripts to actors in which they die that season! Then they leave it for about three weeks before they tell them they're OK."
Their last target was Theon Greyjoy aka Alfie Allen. In a 2015 appearance on Conan O'Brien's talk show, he described the time he fell prey to the jesters.
"I had no tact and kept asking the whole season whether I was going to die or not. Because we get the scripts in a way that we get episodes one to six, and then we get the last four later on," Allen said.
"I was on holiday coz I had a three week break and I'd been given this fake script, where it was Bran comes out on the back of Hodor's back, in Winterfell, and says, 'This is my Winterfell, not yours,' and stabs me in the heart. So, I thought it was a great way to go. I thought it'd be memorable."
They ended his misery after they called during Allen's vacation to ask how he liked the ending.
"I said, 'Yeah, it's cool, thanks guys,'" Allen remembered. "And they're like, 'Okay, cool. How would you feel about being a zombie next to you?' And I was like, 'Yeah, I can do that.' Then they're like, 'How would you feel about being a zombie with absolutely no dialogue whatsoever?' I was like, 'Ugh, I don't know.'
"They were like, 'C'mon, man, are you being serious?' Allen said. "So yeah, they can be kind of cruel with their pranks."
In a recent interview with Yahoo, the Warg actor Isaac Hempstead Wright aka Bran Stark, revealed this crazy activity that showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss come up with every season.
“They sent Alfie a script where I jumped out and stabbed him in the back over and over again. He texted me ‘Oh my god, just read the new script, you stab me to death, that’s amazing!'”
So after this the cast and crew has started taking bets as to who will be the next recipient of Valar Morghulis.
“I think we should start a sweepstakes. The first thing anyone does when they get the script is: Forget the story, am I alive?”
So now with hardly few important characters alive, we wonder who their next target will be. Well for us, let’s just ask Cersei to beware!
