A muscular and aggressive alligator was found inside a home in New York. The alligator was named Arnold by authorities as the animal is beefy like Hollywood’s famous actor Arnold Schwarzenegger. The Suffolk County SPCA: Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals replied to a call from cops about an illegally kept alligator. Reportedly, the animal was kept in a shed filled with heat lamps, water and food.
“His tail was whipping around, I had his head and his body twisting, it took everything I had to hold him without him getting away from me,” Roy Gross, Chief of Suffolk County SPCA told New York Post.
“This thing was so muscular and strong, we called him Arnold, like Arnold Schwarzenegger. We were all looking at it like ‘wow it’s so muscular, look at the size we should call him Arnold,'” Roy Gross added.
SPCA posted photos of Arnold on social media platform Facebook. He warned others that gators do not make loving pets. They also said that it is illegal to keep alligators without any permit.
“Alligators do not make good pets and are illegal to own without a license,” the chief said in a statement.
“They’re basically killing machines… they want to eat, they will kill you. You can’t get affection from an animal like this, they’re not domesticated, they’re a wild animal. This alligator was extremely aggressive, which poses a major risk for those who may handle it. If there was an escape, it could certainly pose a risk to other people and their pets.” Gross said.
The owner of the alligator was charged with illegal possession and faced a fine as well. And the further investigation would reveal whether he would face additional charges as well. The gator will be sent to a wildlife sanctuary.
