Former India captain and president of Cricket Association of Bengal Sourav Ganguly has informed the police in Kolkata about a death threat letter which he had received. He eventually lodged a formal complaint regarding the same.
Ganguly had received the death threat letter via post addressed to his Behala residence on January 7. The letter asked him not to attend a felicitation programme in west Midnapore district which is scheduled on January 19th.
While talking to the press Ganguly said, “Yes I’ve received the letter on January 7 and I’ve informed this to the police and the organisers. Let’s see, nothing has been decided yet but it will be a live show programme and you all will come to know if I go there.”
A senior police officer on Tuesday said that Ganguly has lodged his complaint at Thakurpukur Police Station. “We are looking into the matter. We are checking whether it's a genuine or fake letter. Our officers are examining the letter,” he said.
