Injuries are very commonplace on a soccer field, of both cumulative (overuse) or acute (traumatic) nature. While concussions, muscle cramps, blisters and ankle sprain are common soccer injuries, losing a testicle on the field is something you don’t witness every day.
A Bosnian professional football player has lost one of his testicles after he was accidentally kicked by an opposing defender in the groin. The excruciating moment was caught on a camera, showing the moment that caused the grievous injury.
The video shows FC Zrinjski Mostar's Marin Galic running down the right wing with the ball before the opposing defender mistimed his tackle and hit him in the groin. Galic then went down injured on the touchline in agony.
The incident happened during a Bosnia and Herzegovina Cup match between FC Zrinjski Mostar and FC Sloga.
According to local media, the blow was so devastating that the 22-year-old Galic had to undergo a surgery to get his testicle removed that left him with just one testicle.
