Filmfare has announced the nominations of 10 categories for the 62nd Filmfare Awards, and the Best Actor category is all set to be the talk of the town! Why?! Because after a long spell of 19 years, the crowned stalwarts of the Hindi film industry, the three Khans Shahrukh, Salman and Aamir have been put in the same battle ground.

The last time the three Khans were nominated in the same year was way back in 1999 and this is only the third time that the three actors have been nominated in this category together.

Shahrukh had managed to win it two decades ago with his most adorable portrayal of boy-next-door Rahul in Karan Johar's directorial debut Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Aamir, who got nominated for Vikram Bhatt's Ghulam, and Salman, who was nominated for Sohail Khan's Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya tasted sour grapes that time.

The first turf for this B-town rivalry was in 1996 when Shah Rukh took the Black Lady home for portraying the charming character of Raj in Aditya Chopra's directorial debut Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. That same year Aamir was nominated for Ram Gopal Varma's Rangeela whereas Salman made it to the nomination list for his performance in Rakesh Roshan's Karan Arjun.

This year Shahrukh has been nominated for his hard hitting performance in Maneesh Sharma's Fan, Salman for Ali Abbas Zafar's Sultan and Aamir for record breaking drama Dangal by Nitesh Tiwari.

The others on the list Amitabh Bachchan for Aniruddha Roy Choudhary's Pink, Sushant Singh Rajput for Neeraj Pandey's MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Shahid Kapoor for Abhishek Chaubey's Udta Punjab and Ranbir Kapoor for Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Shockingly enough Akshay Kumar, who had three Rs 100 crore grossers this year, failed to make it to the nomination list in spite of his critically acclaimed performance in Raja Krishna Menon's Airlift, Tinu Suresh Desai's Rustom and hitting a blockbuster in Sajid-Farhad's Houseful 3.

While Shahrukh, who is hosting the award show this year, also boasts of winning the maximum number of Filmfare Awards in this category (tied with Dilip Kumar at eight awards each) it is a well-known fact that Salman and Aamir do not hold awards shows in high regard.

Aamir boycotted award shows long ago, in spite of winning two, for Raja Hindustani in 1997 and Lagaan in 2002 and Salman, who has only performed on the stage at awards shows has not got many.

It will be interesting to watch this showdown and we wonder that in this fight of three will someone else take the cake away!?
