Feral kittens and cats are those cats who have been born to stray cats and were later abandoned or lost. They are not domesticated and that is why they aren't quite acquainted with human beings. In an attempt to embrace these feral cats the idea for the 'Kitten Bjorn' was brought forward by the staff members of ARL(Animal Rescue League of Boston).

Kitten Bjorn is very much similar to a babybjorn; it is a type of baby carrier where a parent can carry his/her baby around, strapped to the body. And Kitten Bjorn works in exactly the same way.

Michael DeFina, Communications and Media Relations Officer at ARL Boston, told The Dodo,

The idea was to have something that allow the kittens to socialize, and be hands-free, thus allowing staff and volunteers to multi-task (answering phones, talking with clients etc.).The design allows the kitten to be flooded with stimuli in a safe way while being constantly monitored by whoever is wearing the vest. Three were made and we are looking to make more.

It’s been seven years since ARL started using vests and is hoping to make more vests so one can continue using them for years to come. The vests have fostered the process of socializing feral kittens with a hope that no poor cat is dragged towards hostility.
