Madras HC has made singing Vande Mataram compulsary in schools, government offices, private entities and industries. Justice M V Muralidharan after delivering the verdict, said, "if people feel it is difficult to sing the song in Bengali or in Sanskrit, steps can be taken to translate the song in Tamil."

3. At least six die in a building collapse in Mumbai

A 35-year old three-storey residential building in the Ghatkopar area of Mumabi collapsed, killing at least six and trapping many under the debris, according to civic officials. Most of the trapped are said to be elderly people. The area has been cordoned off and the cause of collapse is being investigated.
