In a peculiar turn of event, a press release was given out by Pakistan’s Press Information Bureau that reads out an unusual conversation between US President Elect Donald Trump and Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The press release states the following:

- Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif called President-elect USA Donald Trump and felicitated him on his victory. President Trump said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif you have a very good reputation. You are a terrific guy. You are doing amazing work which is visible in every way. I am looking forward to see you soon. As I am talking to you Prime Minister, I feel I am talking to a person I have known for long. Your country is amazing with tremendous opportunities. Pakistanis are one of the most intelligent people. I am ready and willing to play any role that you want me to play to address and find solutions to the outstanding problems. It will be an honor and I will personally do it. Feel free to call me any time even before 20th January that is before I assume my office. On being invited to visit Pakistan by the prime minister, Mr. Trump said that he would love to come to a fantastic country, fantastic place of fantastic people. Please convey to the Pakistani people that they are amazing and all Pakistanis I have known are exceptional people, said Mr. Donald Trump.

Every media organisation is puzzled with the news since not so long ago on January 17, this year, he wrote on his Twitter feed:

Mr. Trump, during his Presidential campaign, has expressed his views on restricting the entrance of Muslims in US in particular, from the countries that are hotspots of what he terms as “radical Islamic terror”.

In a recent presidential rally to garner the vote of Hindu population in US, he said that in his Presidency, India and US will be “best friends” and in another rally organised by Indian nationals he said, “There won’t be any relationship more important to us”.

News organisations from all over the world reacted to this development with touch of humor. The TIME in its two different articles termed it as “Donald Trump’s Phone Conversation With the Leader of Pakistan Was Reckless and Bizarre” and “Donald Trump Had the Trumpiest Phone Call With Pakistan’s Prime Minister”. While The Washington Post called it “Pakistan’s surprisingly candid readout of Trump’s phone call with Prime Minister”. The Guardian stated it as “Terrific guy, fantastic country: Trump heaps praise on Pakistan's leader”. The BBC reported it as “That 'tremendous' call between Trump and Pakistan's PM Nawaz Sharif”. And a well know Pakistani daily reported it as “Trump express willingness to solve ‘fantastic’ Pakistan’s problems”.

The statement from Trump camp described it as “productive conversation” and discussed on how "a strong working relationship in the future" can be achieved.

It seem like the whole world is puzzled with these sudden overture in Donald Trump’s thinking towards Pakistan. As we wondered if he was being serious or was he just trolling Pakistan.
