It seems that Delhi Police is taking the Supreme Court verdict on the sale of firecrackers, very seriously. Two police personnel have already been suspended for failing to stop the sale of firecrackers in their beat areas.
Also, the Delhi Police has seized over 1,200 kg of firecrackers and arrested about 29 people.
After the Supreme Court’s verdict, Delhi Police commissioner Amulya Patnaik had directed the deputy commissioners of the 13 police districts to regulate and ensure that the crackers are not sold in the city.
According to the verdict, no firecracker shop will be open until October 31 in the city. Special teams have been deployed in districts to monitor the situation. Many shops were even forced shut on Tuesday
Till now eight cases have been registered in the north district against people who were found selling firecrackers.
