"They came to bury us, they forgot we were seeds."
- Dinos Christianopoulos
His journey to stardom was no cake walk and the obstacles he faught make the story worth telling.
Award-winning Russian filmmaker Andrei Severny shouldered the responsibility of painting the picture of the life of Michelin star-winning chef Vikas Khanna- the trailer for which was recently unveiled at Cannes Film Festival.
What is the story about?
The story begins from the lush green farms of Amritsar where ambitious Vikas sowed the seeds of his dream. He was born with misaligned feet and thus life started offering challenges from the begining. He began developing recipes at a very young age and opened Lawrence Gardens Banquets to host weddings and family functions when he was 17. The comfort came from his Grandma's kitchen where Vikas was introduced to food, flavours and fantasies.
He later completed his graduation from WelcomeGroup School of Hotel Administration in Manipal and paved his way to success when he started working at Taj, Oberoi, Welcome group, and Leela Group of Hotels.
A dream that traced its origin at the farms of Punjab later took this chef to USA where his restaurant, Junoon, was awarded Michelin Star by the Michelin Guide for three consecutive years.
Behind The Scenes:
Vikas first met Andrie at a fundraiser he organised in New York in 2006. The director approached him to bring his struggle story from Amritsar to America on screen and Vikas knew that his story was in the right hands.
Thus, this masterpiece is crafted by him based on Vikas's upcoming book of the same name. The book is written by Karan Bellani who weaves in words all the pain, obstacles, difficulties and the taste of success experienced by this celebrity chef.
