The Siachen Glacier is one of the most beautiful yet dangerous places on the entire planet. The steep set of passes located in the Karakoram range of the Himalayas is also known as the “Third Pole” for its extreme winters. The average winter snowfall is more than 1000 cm (35 feet) and temperatures can dip to −50 °C (−58 °F). Including all tributary glaciers, the Siachen Glacier system covers about 700 km2 (270 sq mi).

It is also the highest battleground on earth.

Yes, our brave troops have fought and fended off enemies for decades here. And they’re still at it all the while sitting thousands of miles away from their families, braving the wrath of nature.

Now EROSNOW is about to showcase a series titled “Salute Siachen” that chronicles India's first ever celebrity expedition, that was flagged off on the momentous occasion of the 35th anniversary of the Siachen expedition. The epic journey which commenced from Leh, had nine celebrity participants taking off on a 20-day expedition to pay their tribute to the Indian army.

Actors Arjun Rampal, Sonnalli Seygall and Arunoday Singh; Sports personalities - Cricketer Rudra Pratap Singh and Hockey player Yuvraj Walmiki; TV heartthrob Rannvijay Singha along with Namrata Gujaran, Hasan Zaidi and Shlok Sharma participated in an arduous journey to salute the courage of our soldiers who man the posts there in conditions of extreme adversity.
