In a heartening piece of news, Mahesh Savani, a businessman based in Surat, Gujarat has offered to sponsor the education of the children of all 18 martyrs.
He says, “I saw a girl of our Indian soldier crying on the television saying that her father had told her to study hard and become successful. At that very moment, I decided to sponsor the children of the martyrs killed in Uri attack.”
He has also offered to sponsor hostel accommodation and all other facilities for the children at the P.P. Savani International School, Surat.
Savani is known for his extraordinary nature of carrying out social responsibility. Till date, beginning from 2008, he has funded the weddings of 472 girls, across different religions. In addition to bearing the wedding expenses, he gifts his adopted daughters gold and silver jewellery, as well as clothes, electronic goods and other utensils needed to set up a home. He spends over Rs. 4 lakh on each wedding.
We compliment Mr. Savani on this decision and hope that more socially-oriented well-off individuals will take a cue from him.
