Be it Anaconda or King Cobra, Hollywood has always been more sophisticated when it came to deciding the movie title and aesthetics. But the essence of our Hindi cinemas, for the most part of the last decade or two didn’t lie in the depth of the character - because creating a story around clichés was deemed more important. One such concept that became very popular was that of the Ichchhadhari Naagin- be it the music or the moves, nagins were ruling the crowd then.
On this occasion of Nagpanchami, we list some hilarious Naagins played by our B-town actresses.
Mallika Sherawat in Hiss:
We thought Mallika is only good with.... you know what we mean? But here she seems to be donning a character which is not just funny but also yuck! Only if you are Mallika Sherawat fan then you’d go for the movie.
Hats off to the directors who put in efforts to transform her into a seducing nagin.
Meenakshi Seshadri in Nache Nagin Gali Gali:
The movie with the enticing title! The title is self-explanatory so you don’t us to tell you the movie plot. The movie has Meenakshi in the lead portraying a role of an ichchhadhari naagin and probably dancing all the time!
Reena Roy in Nagin:
A story of revenge, a story of a serpent; sporting an avatar like never before. Reena Roy played the role of a nagin where she avenges her lover’s murder. The many colourful lights focused on her face and eerie eyes behind those lenses seemed to work their magic as the movie was declared a super hit.
Sridevi in Nagina:
A….nd the award for the best Nagin goes to- Sridevi! With the popular song 'Main Teri Dushman', Sridevi almost rocked the chartbuster countdown of that time. Her vicious fang-sinking move and expression was too venomous too handle. Look for yourself.
Manisha Koirala in Jaani Dushman - Ek Anokhi Kahani:
You might not know this film and might not even know the character portrayed by Manisha Koirala. But you surely would’ve seen this song because it was fodder for many memes. So far this is the most decent attire of the snake I’ve seen - because she looks more like a dancer than a snake.
