After receiving a chilling video on Wednesday night about more attacks from Islamic State (IS), Bangladesh was terrorised by yet another round of attacks, leaving four policemen dead and 12 injured, according to latest updates. Around 20,000 people were gathered for Namaz at the Sholakia prayer ground in Kishoreganj. Seven or eight unknown attackers attacked the policemen on duty with sharp weapons. The police retaliated with gunfire during which one of the attackers hurled homemade bombs near the congregation.
Hourly updates reported the death of four policemen, either by stabbing or as a result of the blasts, and the injured were rushed to the nearby Mymensingh Medical College hospital.
The attackers, meanwhile, have sought cover in a neighbouring school, while reinforcements continue to pour in. One of the attackers was claimed to have been killed during the gunfire.
Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina has condemned the attack on Namazis, while the government spokespersons maintain that no terrorist outfit has claimed responsibility for the explosion.
