After its successful launch on the android platform, the digital payments app Bharat Interface for Money or the BHIM app which was developed by the government to further the cashless push has been launched for the iOS platform on Saturday.
On December 30th, Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the BHIM app for fast and secure transactions using mobile phones.
IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, last month, in a statement, said that the number of downloads for BHIM app has crossed more than 1 crore and it crossed this milestone in a matter of few days which shows how India is changing with regards to adoption of digital payments and cashless transactions.
With its introduction on the iOS, the BHIM app is currently supporting over 35 banks including the State Bank of India, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, IDBI Bank and the Union Bank.
On the iOS version, the app is currently available in Hindi and English, unlike the android version which also features other regional languages such as Gujarati, Bengali, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and more.
Nonetheless, features that will support more banks and other regional languages are likely to be added soon on the iOS version.
