Assembly Election Dates For 5 States Announced Today

Since 2014 Lok Sabha elections this is the single biggest electoral exercise.

The poll date of Assembly Elections for 5 states, for a total of 690 assembly seats was announced by the Election Commission on Wednesday.

Elections in five states namely Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Manipur, Goa and Uttarakhand will be held between February 4 and March 8, as per the information given by the Chief Election Commissioner Dr Nasim Zaidi.

Dr Nasim Zaidi informed that the result for all five states will be made public on 11th march. As per the information since 2014 Lok Sabha elections this is the single biggest electoral exercise. 690 constituencies are involved from which 403 are from Uttar Pradesh while Goa has 40 seats, Manipur 60, Uttarakhand 70 seats and Punjab 117.

The election commission had also set the expenditure limits for these states, where UP, Uttrakhand and Punjab can spend up to 28 lakh and for Manipur and Goa the limit would be 20 lakh.
