The former RBI governor Raghuram Rajan will likely be nominated as one of its three members for the Rajya Sabha by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). If this becomes reality, then it will set an example of non-political personalities sent to Parliament by a political party.
According to some media reports, four to five prominent personalities from various fields have been approached for the Rajya Sabha membership.
If we believe these reports, then AAP has offered Raghuram Rajan an RS MP seat from Delhi. Some media reports also say that Rajan is ready considering the Rajya Sabha seat offer by AAP.
The AAP party lead by Arvind Kejriwal is allowed to send three members in the Upper House, the terms of which will begin in January.
Most of the personalities who were approached by the AAP have asked to keep their name confidential until they are ready to go to the Rajya Sabha.

Discussions are currently underway within the AAP for the three Rajya Sabha nominations. Earlier, senior party leader Kumar Vishwas had also openly expressed his desire to join the Upper House but has been apparently snubbed.
