Indian army movies are something that show us the lives of our Jawans. Telling us about the struggle our army men have living near the borders face to protect us, which creates more respect for them in our hearts. Just like the Jawans, our Bollywood actors do loads of hard work to portray them correctly and so we bring you a list of army-based movies that are a must watch!
1. LOC Kargil (2003)
A Bollywood war film based on the battle of Kargil between India and Pakistan, directed by J.P. Dutta. The film has stars like Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan, Armaan Kohli, Saif Ali Khan, Sunil Shetty, Abhishek Bachchan, Akshay Khanna, Manoj Bajpai, Rani Mukherji, Kareena Kapoor, Esha Deol and Raveena Tandon. The star cast says it all; the movie was based to showcase the battles fought by several soldiers who lost their lives during Operation Vijay in the year 1999. Soldiers like Captain Vikram Batra, Anuj Nayyar, Manoj Kumar, Pandey, and Sanjay Kumar were portrayed in this movie.
2. Lakshya (2004)
Lakshya is a Bollywood war drama film directed by Farhan Akhtar. The film cast includes Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta, Amitabh Bachchan, Sharad Kapoor, Aditya Srivastava, Om Puri and Boman Irani. The story of the movie is about Lieutenant Karan Shergill, who leads his squad to triumph over the Pakistani Troops.
3. Maa Tujhe Salaam (2002)
An action-cum-patriotic film directed by Tinu Verma features Sunny Deol, Tabu, and Arbaaz Khan and was released in 2002. When the tensions were high between India and Pakistan, the film came and this is known as one of the finest movies on Indian Army. The film revolves around Indian Military Officer, Major Pratap Singh, who destroyed a terrorist infiltration attempt of the enemy country single-handedly with the help of few civilians near the border of India.
4. Mission Kashmir (2000)
A Bollywood movie on Indian Army directed and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and released in year 2000. Starring Sanjay Dutt, Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta and Sonali Kulkarni the film revolves around the life of a young boy named Altaaf. After his entire family is accidentally killed by the police officer, he is adopted by the police chief responsible for this. He seeks revenge and becomes a terrorist. The film deals with terrorism and tragedy of children suffering from war and became third biggest hit of the year 2002.
5. Indian (2001)
INDIAN is a movie directed by N. Maharajan and produced by Dharmendra. The movie was released in the year 2001 starring Sunny Deol, Shilpa Shetty, Rahul Dev, Mukesh Rishi and was a remake of Tamil film Vallarasu. In the movie, Raj Shekhar Azad is an honest police commissioner who wants to wipe out corruption. An influential industrialist and Raj’s father in law aids Waseem Khan, a dreaded terrorist. The movie is excellent and a favorite of many people till date.
6. Holiday (2014)
A soldier is never off duty. This is what the Indian Army based movie directed by A.R.Murugadoss and produced by Vipul Shah tell us. Released recently in the year 2014, the film stars Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha, Govinda and Sumeet Raghavan and is a remake of Tamil film “Thuppakki” which was also directed by A.R.Murugadoss. The film became the biggest net grosser in first half of 2014 and was declared a “hit” by the Box Office. The story revolves around Virat Bakshi, the captain in D.I.A, a wing of Indian Army returns to his home Mumbai on a Holiday.
7. Baby (2015)
An Indian spy action thriller directed by Neeraj Pandey and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Sheetal Sharma and Krishan Kumar. The movie was released on 23 January starring Akshay Kumar, Rana Daggubati, Danny Denzongpa, Anupam Kher, Taapsee Pannu, Kay Kay Menon, Sushant Singh and many others. Akshay Kumar was praised by the audience and the film got positive reviews from the critics as well.
