In a proud moment for our country, Pune girl Varsha Rajkhowa has been crowned as the new Miss Scuba International 2016, which is one of a kind global beauty pageant, organised with the purpose of spreading awareness about marine life and ocean protection. Varsha emerged out to be the deserving winner in a dazzling event which was organised at the wonderful Sutera Harbour Resort in Kota, Malaysia on November 20, 2016.
It was the first time ever that an Indian represented this pageant and won it. Varsha was clinical and mature with her responses and performance. She maintained her composure throughout the competition and her amazing approach was instrumental in her win.
When asked, “What is the most important lesson you’ve learned during the competition?” She aptly said,
“The most important thing we learn is that united we stand and divided we fall. We must come together to save our oceans and to [preserve] beautiful marine life. This is because what we love is what we save, and what we fear to lose is what we have to work for.” This stupendous answer earned her this prized title.
Born in Assam and brought up in different parts of country, Varsha is an Environmentalist. She is extremely versatile and also highly successful model, international grade dancer, certified scuba diver and a national level swimmer.
Varsha had to face lots of challenges and criticisms for her looks and language during her early childhood days and she overcame them with her hard work and a passion to achieve her dream. Varsha is indeed an inspiration for all of us and her achievement is indeed a proud moment for our country.
