Banwarilal Purohit From Nagpur Appointed As Governor Of Assam

Managing Editor of 'The Hitavada' and former member of Lok Sabha from Nagpur, Mr. Banwarilal Purohit was today appointed as the Governor of Assam replacing Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya. Acharya, who is also the Governor of Nagaland, was previously holding additional charge as Assam Governor.

The Centre also appointed new governors to 3 more states - Punjab, Manipur and Andaman & Nicobar. Ex-Rajya Sabha MP V P Singh Badnore, Former Union Minister Najma Heptulla and Professor Jagdish Mukhi would be assuming the Governor's offices in the aforementioned 3 states respectively.

Heptulla would be replacing V. Shanmuganathan (who is also the Governor of Meghalaya), Badnore will replace Kaptan Singh Solanki and Prof. Mukhi will replace A. K. Singh.
