Today marks the first death anniversary of former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, known the world-over as the “Missile Man of India”.
The occasion has been marked by the unveiling of his life-size statue at Peikarumbu, his burial site in Rameswaram, by Union Ministers Venkaiah Naidu and Manohar Parrikar.
In addition to this, an exhibition, “Mission of Life”, depicting his life and achievements is also set to be inaugurated.
Dr. Kalam passed away on July 27, last year while delivering a lecture at the IIM-Shillong in Meghalaya.
The institute is all set to organize a lecture series in his honour, that would be based on the idea of making the world a better place.
